How to start a gratitude journal

-
Dedicate a notebook that you absolutely LOVE just for writing down what you are thankful for.
-
Write 5 things in the morning and evening that you are thankful for. It’s always good to start and end your day remembering what you are grateful for.
-
Remember the small things. Be specific. So much of our lives take place in the day to day mundane. Be specific when journaling about the details of what you are thankful for because there’s evidence that the more details you can write about a positive experience, the better you’ll remember it.
-
Get personal. Focus on people more than things. There is more impact when you remember people more than things.
-
See the good things in your life as “gifts.” Doing this helps you not take things for granted. Savor and embrace all the wonderful things you have received.
-
Savor the moments that make you feel happy or surprised and write them down.
